It's a lot better to know in advance exactly what the impact is to your entire game file when you buy a Joja membership, or that you'll have ot wait an entire game year to find that particular fish that you missed during a certain season, or what can happen to that item you lost out of your inventory when you died in the mines. Keep it up in the background as you play, and don't be afraid to pause the game to refer to it. This is not a new concept it dates back to Nintendo Power being the only possible way 90% of us could ever beat the first Zelda.

If you want to experience even 50% of what the game has to offer, you're going to have to do a bit of research (or spend a significant amount of your life being frustrated with trial and error).

Nobody's forcing you to read storyline details like what you see in cutscenes, but those tend to be clearly labeled in advance. In the second year after catching the final legendary fish and completed my fishing collection tab I then began working on farming and completing the community centre bundles, and due to having upgraded my watering can and hoe as well as having earned a few stardrops in year one to boost my stamina I was still able to tend to my farm and have time leftover to make trips to the docks for fishing or mining runs. I chose to focus on fishing and mining with a little foraging on the way to and from my favourite fishing spot and the mines and had my hoe and watering can both upgraded to gold by the end of Winter. My first year I completely skipped farming apart from growing a single poppy to give to Penny on her birthday. You're not going to have enough time and stamina in the beginning to maintain huge numbers of crops, and even with small fields you won't have a lot of time and stamina left over for other activities like fishing and mining. I think the best advice is simply not to try doing everything at once, especially early on.
